Carli Lloyd scored a hat-trick inside the first 16 minutes of the 2015 World Cup final — the third from just past the halfway line, with the goalkeeper caught off her line. It remains the fastest hat-trick in any World Cup final.

Equal Pay Took a Lawsuit

In 2022 the United States women's team reached a settlement with U.S. Soccer worth $24 million, followed by a collective agreement that equalised pay with the men's team and split World Cup prize money between them. It was the first arrangement of its kind in the world.
